Icarus, Ego, and the FIFA Forward Enterprise:
What Gianni Infantino's birth chart reveals about FIFA's collapsed $20bn Forward Enterprise deal, and the dates still to watch.

This week, FIFA president Gianni Infantino walked back one of the most audacious proposals of his tenure: FIFA Forward Enterprise (FFE), a plan to sell a private-investment stake in the World Cup for a reported $20 billion. Within days, UEFA's 55 member associations voted unanimously to boycott FIFA competitions, CONCACAF and the AFC rejected the plan outright, and Infantino's own senior advisor resigned in protest, calling it "a bad deal for football." By Friday, FIFA confirmed the project "will not proceed."
It's a spectacular, fast-moving collapse. When I pulled Infantino's natal chart against the current sky, the astrology tells a strikingly coherent story about how he got here, and where this may be heading next.
A note on method: Infantino's birth time isn't publicly documented, so this chart uses a hypothetical noon placement. I'm reading it primarily through sign and aspect, not houses, though I'll flag where a Cancer Ascendant seems to fit the pattern of what's unfolding, and build the case for that theory as we go.
The Icarus Signature
Infantino has an asteroid Icarus, mythologically the one who flew too close to the sun, sitting at 28° Aquarius, conjunct his natal Sun, Mercury, and Venus in Aries by wider aspect, and in relationship to his natal North Node in Leo. Natal Icarus in aspect to the natal Node describes overreach specifically through partnership and alliance: a deal, a coalition, an agreement that promises transformation but is built on shaky structural ground.
If Cancer rising holds, natal Icarus also falls in the eighth house, the house of transformation and other people's money. That's about as literal a placement as astrology offers for a $20 billion deal built entirely on outside investment: the very degree associated with flying too close to the sun sits in the house that governs exactly the kind of financial structure FFE was proposing.
The Case for Cancer Rising
Infantino's birth time isn't public record, but the pattern of what's unfolding fits a Cancer Ascendant closely enough to build the case here rather than leave it as a passing aside. It's not unusual to see strong Cancer placements in the charts of successful businessmen and dealmakers, people who build security and institutional standing over time. A Cancer rising would also place Aries, the sign of sport, competition, and Mars, at the very top of the chart (the Midheaven, the point of career and public standing), which tracks precisely with a life built around competitive football and public authority.
It would also place Capricorn in the seventh house: the house of contracts, agreements, and formal partnerships. That's a strongly transactional placement, and a fitting backdrop for a man whose current crisis is, at its root, a contract dispute playing out on the world stage.
The Neptune Fog
Transit Neptune retrograde is moving back across Infantino's natal Sun and Mercury, the very placements that also carry his natal Icarus. Neptune here doesn't create clarity; it dissolves it. Under this transit, grand visions can feel inspired and inevitable in the moment, while the practical groundwork (consultation, governance, buy-in) gets lost in the haze. It's the astrology of believing your own hype, of being sold a dream and mistaking it for a done deal. If Cancer rising holds, this Neptune transit also sits at the top of his chart alongside transit Saturn, giving the whole situation a dissolving, authority-undermining quality that's playing out very publicly rather than privately.
Saturn's Reckoning
If Neptune explains the fog, Saturn is the reality check. Transit Saturn, currently retrograde at 14° Aries, is already moving back through the same stretch of the zodiac as Infantino's natal Sun, Mercury, Venus, and Icarus. This is the transit under which agreements get renegotiated, scaled back, or scrapped.
The more significant moment is still ahead. Transit Saturn continues retrograding back toward 6° Aries, where it will station on December 10th, right on top of Infantino's natal Chiron. A Saturn station, when the planet appears to stand still before changing direction, is astrologically a point of maximum pressure and reckoning. Landing on natal Chiron, the wound, this station could mark the point where the consequences of FFE (reputational, structural, possibly personal) become undeniable and immovable.
Jupiter Under Pressure
Infantino's natal Jupiter sits opposite both natal Saturn and natal Mars, which are conjunct each other in Taurus: a standing three-way tension between expansion (Jupiter) and restriction (Saturn, Mars). Jupiter wants to grow the deal; Saturn and Mars, slow and stubborn in Taurus, keep pulling against that expansion. This natal standoff is part of what made FFE possible in the first place, and part of what's now working against it.
That tension gets activated directly later this year. Transit Venus, moving retrograde from Scorpio back into Libra, is due to conjunct natal Jupiter and pass near his natal Moon/Uranus conjunction along the way. Venus conjunct Uranus tends to bring a surprise breakup, a surprise reunion, or a sudden change of position, and this may be the point at which we hear how Infantino really feels about everything that's happened.
Money, Power, and Optics
Transit Venus at 23° Virgo, conjunct Infantino's natal Pluto, is a classic signature for power struggles around money and value, and for a gap between how someone wants to be perceived (in control, above reproach) and how they're actually being received. Traditionally, Venus-Pluto contacts also raise questions of undisclosed financial dealing or reputational entanglement more broadly, worth noting without overstating what the chart alone can confirm. A recently separating transit Mars/natal Pluto square, alongside a current transit Mars/transit Venus square in the sky, points to decisions made quietly, even secretively, consistent with reporting that the FFE proposal arrived with little consultation before its announcement.
If Cancer rising holds, natal Pluto in Virgo falls in the third house: communication, statements, and immediate public messaging. That makes the first key date worth watching September 18th, 2026, when transit Sun sits exactly on that natal Pluto. A Sun-Pluto conjunction is a flashpoint for power struggles coming into the light, and landing in the house of public statements, this reads as a strong candidate for a major public reckoning, a forced statement, or the first real test of whether Infantino can hold his position.
Meanwhile, transit Pluto and transit Juno are moving through Aquarius together, essentially conjunct despite both being retrograde, right through the same territory as natal Icarus. That points to a deeper, slower transformation running underneath the immediate crisis, specifically around how partnerships and outside money are structured within FIFA itself.
What's Next: A Window to Watch
The second key date is October 10th, 2026, when the transiting North Node reaches Infantino's natal Icarus at 28° Aquarius. Because natal Icarus already describes overreach through partnership, and because this degree may also sit in the eighth house of other people's money, the Node's arrival here is the moment I'd expect to matter most: a resignation announcement, a formal vote of no confidence, or the point at which the FFE story reaches its real turning point.
That date sits inside a wider window worth watching closely. Transit Venus turns retrograde on October 3rd at 8° Scorpio and doesn't complete its retrograde until November 18th at 22° Libra. A transit Mercury retrograde in Scorpio runs alongside it, ending November 13th at 5° Scorpio. Scorpio retrogrades of this kind have a well-established reputation for digging up secrets, buried history, and things done privately coming back into view. With the Node crossing natal Icarus in the middle of this stretch, this reads as the most likely window for undisclosed details about how FFE was really handled to come to light, and quite possibly the point that proves undoing for Infantino's presidency.
After that, transit Saturn's station on natal Chiron on December 10th reads less like the initial rupture and more like the point of formal changeover or closure.
There's a longer arc here too. Transit Chiron will dip briefly back into Aries before its final move into Taurus, a placement that, given everything converging in this chart right now, feels less like a rescue and more like the moment this whole saga settles into the record as a cautionary tale.
